Yes, The RSIC-1 clips and channel can be oriented vertically to mount directly over the wall framing fro the purpose of isolating a radius wall, or soffit .

Radius Wall, or Soffit. Wall or soffit framing to be a maximum of 16" oc. RSIC-1 clips installed on every vertical stud spaced no more than 48" apart, with a clip within 6" of the ceiling and floor to support the top and bottom of the drywall furring channel. In wall applications the RSIC-1 clips are attached to every stud at 48" intervals. In Soffit applications, the soffit is hard framed to the floor joist, and wall framing. The RSIC-1 clips for the soffit are attached to the vertical framing of the soffit frame.
